Climate Control in Tanzania
ATEKAL, TANZANIA - NOVEMBER 16: Seron Fusindawo, a Maasai woman, stands with one of her children outside her traditional house on November 16, 2009 in their village in Atekal, Tanzania. Many of the children in the village are malnourished and they have recently been forced to eat a fruit called Atekal, from nearby trees. This fruit is only eaten during very hard times. The village has lost about 300 cattle in recent months. This area has been severely affected by drought the last two years and as many as 3-4000 cattle has died in recent months. The Maasai tribe populates the area and many of them has given up on farming and traveled to cities such as Arusha to look for work. Indigenous peoples globally, such as the Maasai in Tanzania and Kenya, are disproportionately affected by the impacts of climate change due to fragile and harsh ecosystems.
