This powerful predator, Oceanic Whitetip Shark, Carcharhinus longimanus, accompanied by pilot fish is seen in open water in the Bahamas near Cat Island. This species of pelagic shark can be particularly agressive and is identified by its long, white-tipped and rounded fins. Its conservation status currently considered vulnerable. The pilot fish often shadow predators such as this, engaging in commensal behavior by tending to any leftovers left by the host shark and feeding on ectoparasites found on the host.
