New York Congressman Jerry Nadler supports the STOP School Violence Act with serious concerns about what the bill fails to do, that while authorizing $50 million annually for grants to fund training and other initiatives intended to enhance school safety, it was shameful Congress had the not done more to reduce the threat of gun violence to children strengthen gun laws or establish universal background check system, concluding that the bill could have been examined by the judiciary committee just as quickly in the one month since the tragic Parkland, Florida, high school shooting.
